Hedvi is just 12 km from Velneshwar. Its black sand beach lies between the white sand beaches of Guhagar, Velneshwar and Ganpatipule. The main attraction is the Laxmi-Ganesh Temple, a rare temple built of white stone, which houses a 3-foot-high, ten-armed Ganpati idol known as the “Dashbhuja Ganpati”.
Nearby Velneshwar, about 70 km from Ratnagiri on the western coast of Maharashtra, has a beautiful rock-free beach loved by swimmers, and its Shiva temple draws lakhs of pilgrims every year.
